Cloudy Day

Today I met Ka Fizah. Its been more than a month since the last time I saw her.

Rarely do you have the opportunity to speak with people who have certain purpose to achieve in their life.

She is one of the rare people out there who I believe will be one of the many stepping stones toward a better Brunei.

-------

No matter how lazy you are and how ‘stupid’ the academic scores label you, as long as you have a purpose, none of that matters.

If you have not decided what’s your purpose is, go out and experience new situations. Purpose is not something you can have by thinking alone, it is something that  can only be created through reflection on experience. That is why people who possess both academic and experiences are chosen over those who only have one.

-------

Government scholarship should include ‘statement of purposes’ in the scholarship application. There is no point sending excellent students overseas who have no sense of purposes. This is maybe one of the many reasons why excellent students who went overseas failed their educations.

-------

People always complained that progress is inhibited because of the law set up by the government. People should start thinking of another way to achieve progress instead of insisting the creation of new ones since chances are the new ones will definitely give way to another set of problems.

-------

‘Gay’sex is a natural phenomena. It is not exclusive for human, it affects other animals as well. A simple experiment can be used to prove this point. Take two male cats together. In time, sexual behaviour will take place between them.

-------

Blasphemy happens through action, word and intention. If the meaning of each word is to be taken literally, all Muslim I know are no longer Muslim.

-------

If you keep on thinking, you will eventually find your own ‘truth’. God gives you brain to think. If God wants you to think only certain things, God would have given you a brain that only thinks a certain thing. The fact that it is not so indicates that any thinking is permissible even if that thinking contradicts the teachings of the Ulama.

Before My Midnight Shower I Think

Science and Religion cannot mix.

Science says our ancestors are apes.

Religion says our ancestors are Adam and Eve.

Evidences support the claim made by science.

If evolutionary theory is wrong then everything that involves gene is invalid.

-------

Science says all behaviors could be explained by learning more about the brain.

Religion says that good behaviors are God’s will, bad behaviors are Satan’s persuasion.

Evidences support the claim made by science.

When enough evidences are collected to support the brain-behavior link, where will Satan go? Ultimately where will religion go?

-------

People said to me that most pioneers of scientific discoveries were Muslims. Are they truly muslim? Just because they have a muslim name doesn’t make them a muslim or just because they come from a Muslim country doesn’t make them a muslim.

-------

Islam is a religion. Under the name islam there are many ‘Islam’. Wahhabi, Sufi, Salafi, Shiah, and etc. Only those who hold onto Qoran and the Hadith are saved from the Fire of Hell. I thought to myself if this is true, which one of the four school of thoughts will end up in Heaven since each claim their practices were derived from Qoran and Hadith?

-------

They say Solat gives you a peace of mind. Meditation gives you a peace of mind. Then we can say Solat is muslim way of meditation. Then why do Muslims go for meditation classes? Solat doesn’t give them a peace of mind?

They say when you buy Coffee from starbuck you are creating a bullet for Israel. I found this very hilarious. We can say the same thing about other stuffs. I buy something from a shop. The owner of the shop decides to use the ‘money’ to buy alcohol. Using the same line of thought, my money is eventually used to buy alcohol. Should I stop buying stuffs from shops?

-------

What makes a person a Muslim? Strict observation of all Islamic practices? Or just believing in Allah? Or combination of both?

-------

I am learning therefore my opinion will keep on changing until I find the ‘truth’.

Big Spender

Reckless. That is how I summarized my current financial circumstances. Every week I would end up in China Town, socializing as if there is an infinite flow of money coming into my wallet. I even used some a lot of my saving. I have to get back on track. I pray March would be less demanding. No, I must make it less demanding.

Paintball was awesome. The constant marker’s functional problem was frustrating, but the overall experience compensated it. Our team, The Brum Ultimatum won fourth place while the Brum Supremacy won the third. I was surprised that history repeats itself. Coincidence happened again:

1. The two Birmingham teams fought against each other.

2. The two Birmingham teams share the same total score.

I was mildly disappointed because I didn’t have the infamous bruises, blotches (The same word used by a friend of mine in her facebook), and what say you. (Carl Senior phrase). There is one good explanation that I am not very fond of, I was playing defensive avoiding the front line. On a brighter side, I was only killed twice.

No more thoughts to spare here. Till next time.  Happy National Day Everyone. Be proud of your heritage because its the one thing that separates us from other Muslims.

Shtsumonga arimasu

Its been a long time since the last time I updated this blog.

I took free Japanese lesson organized by lovely Kumi Chan. There were 8 of us: 5 Chinese, 2 Malays and One Russian. One word to summarize the experience, FUN. Having the opportunity to learn with someone you *cough* is simply wonderful.

The lesson lasted for more than an hour. I was fortunate that I declined Nik’s offer for Benjamin Button, the opportunity to be with *you get what I mean* is hundred folds better. What do we learned? The basic stuffs and getting the right pronunciation.

Now I have to memorize all the Katakana and Hiragana before the next lesson. This is certainly an interesting challenge. Can I complete this task before Faisal’s birthday? We’re going Pat Thai! Karaoke! And she’s coming. A good opportunity to *cough* her.

Besides the Japanese lesson, nothing much happen. I got my results. My intense revisions paid off except for Cognitive Neuropsychology which I get third class. Second year contributes 25% to the final degree so I shouldn’t worry much.

Well, I think that’s it for today. Dewa. (I am not sure if we can use this in writing, but we learned from mistakes and why not making lots of em?)
